100th Post BlogHop w/HIMCR

Welcome to Challenge #100 over at HIMCR!!  You should have arrived here from Diana’s blog… if not, then make sure you backtrack and check out the people before me… and make sure to continue on and see everyone’s stuff!!  There are two giveaways up to win for this challenge… one for participating in the blog hop and the other for creating an entry using one of the team’s color combos!

For today’s first challenge, to celebrate the HIMCR 100th challenge, it is a color challenge but with a twist! Each of the Design Team has chosen a combination of colors and you are to visit each blog, leave a comment, check out their color combos and choose one that you want to use to participate in the color challenge! Please be sure and let us know who combo you decided to use!

I chose to keep it simple and stick with the primary colors, “Red, Yellow, Blue.”  I pulled the PP from my scraps… It was superhero themed but I can’t find any superhero images, so I went with this Football Ian.  Dude is ADORABLE.

Way to go with HIMCR

It’s the 2nd Saturday of the month which means it’s Super Scraps Saturday (SSS) with challenge #93 at Hiding in my Craft Room.  This week we are sponsored by Scrapbook Pal, who is generously offering up a $25 gift certificate to the lucky winner.  All you gotta do is use your scraps, and I know everyone has some to use up!!

I decided to use up a bunch of border strips.  They’ve been sitting in my organizer since December, waiting to either be used or filed.  So I used them!!

strips

As soon as I decided I wanted to use these up I knew I wanted to create a striped background, and eventually it evolved into a weave.  I used a blank A4 card front as my base and started working with the strips and my ATG.   (JUST A NOTE: I used a total of 20 strips to make my front… you can see exactly what I did below)  Once I covered up the entire card front…

woven

…I trimmed it down to an A4 size and glued down any loose ends.  After flipping through my images, I settled on Skater Ian by The Greeting Farm.  I have to say that I have only one or two TGF stamps and a handful of images that were gifted to me, and this is definitely a company I need to invest some major spending $$ in!!  So this is how the card came out…

…I freehand cut out the star because AGAIN, I needed a star larger than 1/2″ and I can’t do that without using the cricut… so freehand is easier and much faster.  I added some stitching to help it stand out.  This sentiment is actually NOT what I wanted… I had a sentiment in mind but couldn’t find it in the drawer.  답답해!!  So frustrating!!  But luckily I found this one and it fit just right.  =o)  I have to say though, I am VERY sad that I had to cover up so much of what I weaved!!! lol…

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you come join us for Super Scraps Saturday #93 at HIMCR!!

…And One For Good Luck

First off, I want to encourage everyone to go play at this week’s challenge at Stamp ‘n’ Doodle, Bows & Butterflies.

Unfortunately, my puppies decided to do this a little over a week ago:

… basically they tore off the moulding hiding the internet cable running to my craft room AND ripped the wire straight out of the wall (see it hanging about 1/2 way up the wall??) which left me with no internet access in my craft room, and worse off, no printer access at all.  So I haven’t been able to print out the image for this week’s challenge.  J did manage to fix it up today though, so I should be able to get back online and print stuff by tomorrow.

But on another note, I did it.  I plugged away all night and I made it to 100… actually I made it to 101.  I used a few of the same color schemes and kept the layouts super simple but the point is, I finished!!  So without further ado, here are cards #92-101.

So now who’s ready for the next round of 100 Cards in 100 Days??  I know I’m NOT.  haha!!  I’ll be back for another round though, just not straight away.  The plan is to take the rest of the month off and start up again May 1st.  Going to go relax and get some shut eye now.  Happy Humpday!!

Happy Birthday! with Kreative Stempelfreunde

The challenge over at Kreative Stempelfreunde/Creative Stamp Friends (a German challenge blog) is to use Dies or Punches on your creation this week.  I typically use punches on my cards in the form of scallop circles and squares, but I wanted to challenge myself to do something with dies.  I have a tiny collection of them… I stopped purchasing dies because I use them sooo infrequently.  We’re talking like MAYBE 2x a year!!!  I have had this mushroom border die for a very, very long time and sad to say, this is the first time it’s been taken out of its packaging.  whoops!!

This is card #77 in my 100 Cards in 100 Days Challenge.  10 more days to go before we reach 100 days so I better get to work!!
