Inspiration Station Challenge #5

Hi all! It’s new challenge time over at Inspiration Station! Here’s the Inspiration Picture for Challenge #5:

And as always, feel free to use anything in the picture that inspires you!

My inspiration was the wine glasses and the idea of having a casual gathering. Initially I wanted to use something with the blue and white and maybe even the pool but then I found this image and this patterned paper in my stash and it just came together on its own lol!!

Hope you come join us! Thanks for stopping by!

LeAnn’s World 101 New Release!

There’s a new release from LeAnn’s World 101 today. FIVE brand-spanking new digis got released and I was fortunate enough to get to color them all!! They are all super cute but my absolute favorite is saved for last… If you’ve seen my posting around on social media you’ve already seen which one it is but I’m going to pretend you haven’t yet seen them so here we go…

First up we have Diana and phew did she take some time to color!! Scenes usually do but I had trouble with her hair because the darkest color I used, YR27 was such a STICKY pen and I had to change colors to try and get the stickyness away.

This adorable pair is Bailey and Suszanna and I got to play with some blues in this one, including using B23 with my cool greys (C-family) to make his hair black with a blue tint to it.

This friendly waitress is Kelly and I just adore her bow and little apron!!

This pair is Young Love and I absolutely love her hair buns!! Once more with the blue-black hair!! This time I didn’t go over the blue so much to leave it more strikingly bright and beautiful!

Finally we get to my absolute favorite of the group, Phoebe! She is just too cute but I gotta say that the reason she’s my favorite is because of her mushroom seat!! I absolutely adore coloring spotted mushrooms red and brown… and I want more lol!!

I’ll have speed coloring videos up on my YouTube channel soon and list the colors used so make sure you subscribe to get those notifications. So excited!!

And make sure you stop by the LeAnn’s World 101 FB Group to see what else is going on! Thanks for stopping by!!

Inspiration Station Challenge #4

Hi all! It’s new challenge time over at Inspiration Station! Here’s the Inspiration Picture for Challenge #4:

And as always, feel free to use anything in the picture that inspires you!

My inspiration was definitely the color red and the love theme to the challenge picture. And I decided to challenge myself to make a card using some old stash and ended up with this! The background paper is actually a pocket scrapbooking card (originally 4×6) from an older Studio Calico monthly subscription kit… and I say OLD because I think I cancelled my sub in 2016 or so.

But I absolutely love the card with the foil and the simplicity of it. So I knew that this card was going to be kept simple with not a lot of extra stuff on it because seriously, that background is all you need!!!

And that epoxy sticker is even older!! It’s from a REALLY old KI Memories line… so I’m going to say seriously like 2008 or something. I added some scrap baker’s twine to it and I’m so happy with how it came out. Sometimes simple is best!! And yay to me for using up some old stash!!

Hope you come join us! Thanks for stopping by!

Inspiration Station Challenge #3

Hi all! It’s new challenge time over at Inspiration Station! Here’s the Inspiration Picture for Challenge #3:

And as always, feel free to use anything in the picture that inspires you!

I went with the purple and the floral for this one. I actually recently got this Orchid set from Avery Elle and thought it was so simple and pretty and unfortunately I needed to restock my stash of sympathy/supportive cards so turned it into this. The background is watercolored using Big A’s watercolor set from elementary school on watercolor paper. I also used my Crayola markers (the lightest grey I could find in my stash) to give the pot a little bit of a shadow as it sat on the floor.

Part of me thinks this needs a little bit more but then I remember it’s supposed to be simple and then I force myself to be okay with it lol! But this is my encouragement card to you, sending you virtual hugs and support knowing that there’s an end to all this madness!

Hope you come join us over at Inspiration Station! Can’t wait to see how this image inspires you.

Thanks for stopping by!

The Bee’s Knees

It’s the end of the month so that means I better hurry my ass up and get my project finished for the March Outlawz Progressive Challenge lol!! This month the digi was from The Paper Nest Dolls and she was just adorable and so much fun to color too!

I absolutely knew I wanted to go with a black and yellow color scheme and add glitter to her wings… And then dug through my stack of “use this first” paper — which is really my “too lazy to put it away properly so just hurry up and use it” pile lol — and luckily had this white and yellow chevron paper that fit perfectly!!

I added some bees from an old Simon Says Stamp set I had in my “use this first” stamp pile. And yes, when I say “use this first” and “pile” or “stack” in the same breath it always means the same thing (see above for explanation!) haha!!!

But she is so pretty and I’m loving how this card came together!! Thanks Outlawz for a fun progressive challenge and thanks PND for an always adorable digi!

Thanks for stopping by!

Be Merry Slimline

So I made this card at the end of 2020 but couldn’t get my blog to load pictures so put it aside to post/share later. This was the first card I’d made in almost 2 months, and the first card I’ve Copic colored on in almost 9 months. NINE FREAKING MONTHS. That’s such a long time for me!! I need to practice coloring and get used to blending and just get used to the feel of these pens again!

And like, triple bonus… this card was for a challenge! I’m still trying to make it a habit to craft more regularly and blog and do the whole share on social media thing again… and also doing challenges to motivate me to keep creating new things. And I think I’m going back to Christmas Card Sunday where I share a brand new Christmas card every Sunday on the blog. Okay, maybe not evvvvvvery Sunday. Let’s change that to most Sundays. haha.

So this was my contribution to the week of 12/20/2020’s Clean and Simple challenge on Splitcoast Stampers, CAS216 themed “trees.” Abso-toot-ly love it. I think slimlines are my new favorite cards to make. So exciting!!

Thanks for stopping by!

OLW 2021 + Goals

I know I posted yesterday with a card to share but I wanted to come back and update my 2021 goals since that’s how I usually start blogging the year!

My word for 2020 was simplify. Simplify things so that I could keep running full steam without burning out. Simplify my routines, purge the material things in my home and get rid of the clutter, and strip away all the things I was holding on to that didn’t necessarily maximize my potential to do what I really wanted to do… I really just needed to simplify my life.

2020 was such a huge mess for so many of us that I really had to sit back and focus on myself and my family first. And I’m so glad and grateful that I did. My dad’s day health program closed at the end of March because of COVID-19, the kids transitioned to distance/remote learning, hubs and I transitioned to distance learning and working from home for our University jobs… all between the start of spring break and the end. So much changed in such a short period of time.

My dad ended up getting sicker and less mobile over time, and by October he was in home hospice and he passed away at the beginning of December. I’m so grateful that we were home with him through it all, regardless of how hard it was for each of us some days. And I’m super grateful that I had stepped back from many of my commitments in 2019 so that it didn’t have to feel like I was letting people down by needing to step back and focus on family when I really needed to in 2020.

But through all of that I managed to complete my course requirements for my MA degree and got approved to move to candidacy this semester which means that I am working on research and writing for my thesis instead of reading and writing for other classes… it’s still a lot of work and requires a lot of focus but I can’t tell you how happy I am to ONLY have my own project and research to focus on this semester!! Hopefully I can finish up a solid draft by the end of summer and defend in the fall and then finish and graduate at the end of this year! Here’s to wishful thinking… woo-hoo!! lol.

Anywhoo… sorry for the long update but it’s been such a long time since I blogged! I’m definitely hoping to find regular time to be social in my crafting communities and am super looking forward to going crazy with the crafting and blogging and stuff again!!

So back to 2021… my word for this year is FIND.

This year it’ll be about making time for people and the good things and the important things.

Find time for what’s important.
Find time for who’s important.
Find time to get things done.
Find a way to make it all work.
Find my motivation to just keep pushing.
Find joy.
Find happiness.

But also, on a less philosophical and more practical level, continue to clean and purge so there’s more space than stuff and it’s easier to find things around the house.

And onto the goals… lots of it is the same as previous years, just adjusted for COVID.

Goals for 2021

Crafty Goals:

  • color 1-2 images a week. I am sorely out of practice and my coloring feels stagnant and this is somewhere I definitely need to grow!!
  • create and mail out cards to friends every month, especially on birthdays.
  • participate in Project Life (monthly). This means dedicating time to collecting & printing the pictures and stories that mean something each week so that I have them ready to go at the end of the month (or beginning of the next) when I sit down to put them together.
  • scrapbook a couple layouts a month. I really, really miss this. And my kids really, really love looking through their old albums.

Personal/Blog Challenges: (All challenges are combinable):

  • blog again.
  • and make videos again. It’s so much fun to do, and I hope people enjoy watching!!
  • participate in challenges regularly.

“What It’s Worth” Card Challenge – Make at least as many cards as a stamp/set is worth in dollars (rounding up to the next dollar).  Each individual card counts as $1.  So if I buy a stamp for $4, I need to make 4 different cards with it.  If I buy a stamp set for $20, I need to make 20 cards, trying as hard as I can to use each stamp in the set evenly.  I looked at the stamp sets I have and there are some that will make it hard to use every single stamp evenly… but I will try!  The rule: No buying stuff to make these cards.  I have to use what’s already in my stash or leftovers from other projects.

Business Goals:

  • maintain retail store. Move to something more user-friendly.
  • figure out teaching papercrafting classes/workshops in a COVID world.
  • make a card kit and layout kit every month.

Home Goals:

  • clean and purge until there’s more storage than stuff – downsize craft stash, clean out boys room and my bedroom.
  • fix up garden, add to garden and grow things! Hubby wants to go in ground. Goal is to eventually become more-or-less completely sustainable for home and family.
  • between me and the hubs, cook 5x a week.
  • bake 1x a week.

Personal Goals:

  • work on my fitness!  Get in shape.  Be able to run with my kids.
  • lose 80 lbs.  I gained weight last year. ugh. But SERIOUSLY.  I think of it as 25-ish lbs per kid.  haha.

Financial Goals:

  • start saving up for next trip. Goal is to be able to take a trip every year, including traveling internationally every 2 years. Although it looks like traveling domestically is more expensive so we might have to switch it to being able to travel domestically every 2 years haha.
  • put more money towards the end goal.

Rainbow Valentines

Yay for challenges! haha. I can’t tell you how happy I am to have a little more free time in my schedule and use that time to craft again.

This card is for the brand-spankin new challenge at Make the Cards that a friend of mine is on the DT for… so happy for her and even happier for me to find a fun new challenge lol!! Congrats to them all for a wonderful start to their challenge blog and I hope to continue to play along! This week the challenge is to follow the sketch below:

It’s not quite the same as the sketch for challenge #1 but I just couldn’t find some fun and bright rainbow paper like I wanted to so had to make my own rainbow with some strips of polka-dot patterned paper. But I kept to the diagonals in the sketch haha!!

Thanks for stopping by, I have a bunch more cards to share from this month… I just needed to do some updates to my blog and then have hubby fix it because I couldn’t get pictures to upload!!

Take care, see you again soon!

2020 Goals

My One Little Word for 2019 was refocus. I had so much going on that I needed to pare things down to what was realistically do-able and refocus on myself, my family, and my goals. And then 2019 disappeared in a blink and I was stuck trying to figure out my OLW for 2020.

I’m still refocusing on myself, my business, my goals… and the recurring thing was that I really needed to simplify things so that I can keep running full steam without burning out. Simplify my routines, purge the material things in my home and get rid of the clutter, and like I said last year, strip away all the things I was holding on to that didn’t necessarily maximize my potential to do what I really wanted to do… I really just need to simplify my life.

(found via Google Search)

So my OLW for 2020 is simplify. The amount of things I am doing is not going to lessen this year; I’m still working multiple jobs (4!) while finishing my masters degree, running my business and making sure I have time for family and friends. And that’s okay. I can hustle and breathe at the same time. haha.

Goals for 2020

2019 was a crazy busy business year and I struggled to keep up with demand for classes and kits but was able to bring in a couple new manufacturers and expand my lines. And at home, while we didn’t go out and do a lot of things, we got a lot of family time and QT in spurts… hoping to make family time a more regular thing.

  • Participate in a crop every month. I did pretty well for the bulk of 2019 and it was so much fun to meet people and make friends. And once in a while I got work done too. haha!!

Personal/Blog Challenges: (All challenges are combinable):

  • blog again. I just checked and my last blog post here was in March. MARCH!!!!!!!!!!
  • and make videos again. It’s so much fun to do, and I hope people enjoy watching!!

Business Goals:

  • maintain retail store. Itʻs up but not updated.
  • maintain locker more regularly.
  • participate in craft fairs/expos. Do at least one every other month.
  • continue teaching papercrafting classes.
  • make a kit every month, either card or layout or something else!

Home Goals:

  • clean and purge until there’s more storage than stuff – downsize craft stash, clean out boys room and my bedroom.

  • between me and the hubs, cook 5x a week. We spend waaaaay too much money on takeout/fast food.
  • bake 1x a week.

Personal Goals:

  • work on my fitness!  Get in shape.  Be able to run with my kids.
  • lose 80 lbs.  I gained weight last year. ugh. But SERIOUSLY.  I think of it as 25-ish lbs per kid.  haha.

New Home w/Kindred Stamps

Sharing a project today over at the Kindred Stamps blog!! I got to play with the Up for an Adventure stamp set in the Kindred Stamps Store!!

For this card, I thought it would be super cute to give to a friend who just adopted a new furry family member! So this is kind of like a welcome card to that pup!!

The sentiments come with the set, and they can be paired so many different ways… initially I was going to put “to your new adventure, home sweet home” but then dropped the adventure stamp and gave up looking for it so just went with “to your new home sweet home” which works even better, I think!! haha. And no worries, I found the “adventure” stamp clinging to the edge of my desk so it’s back with the rest of its set, safe and sound lol!!

That pup is just too adorable. LOVE. Make sure you come join us over at the Kindred Stamps FB Group to see the amazing makes everyone else is sharing!!
